A woman has shared that her parents believe a chihuahua is haunting their house after they spotted a small dog in the doorway.
The unnamed woman took to Reddit and explained that it was her dad who first heard the ‘sounds of toenails’ being scraped against the hardwood floor. Her mom then said that she heard ‘dog’s nails’ being pulled across the floor.
“My mom is the biggest skeptic ever,” she said.
“When my dad started telling her that he had, on a couple occasions, heard a sound like toenails on hardwood and seen a little white ball float down the hallway, she blew him off for pranking her or imagining things,” she continued.
“But then she heard the sound of dog’s nails when she was alone and their only dog was sitting on the couch next to her. Her dog jumped up and ran over to investigate and the noise stopped.”
When she got up to get a drink one night, she said that she heard the dog’s nails scrapping across the floor again.
“She said she saw a little dog in the doorway,” the woman went on.
“Without her glasses on and in the dark, she thought it was her dog, Rosie, who had come to follow her.
“She walked over to pick her up and the dog just dropped through the floor, gone. Rosie was still in bed and asleep with dad.”
The mother believes she tried to pick up the ghost of her late father’s chihuahua, who passed away a couple of years ago and was buried with his owner.
“She’s absolutely convinced now that it’s her dad and his deeply loved chihuahua,” she added.
One Reddit user commented: “My cat used to always sneeze after she drank water. After she died, we brought her home to bury. We were sitting at the table trying to collect ourselves, emotionally, and we heard a sneeze come from the kitchen, where her water bowl was kept.
“It surprised us both, but made us feel so much better.”
Another shared: “I’ve got a ghost cat here at my house. I’m not sure which one it could be since we have had many. It came into the living room and shot across the room and into the kitchen like it was being chased.
“I was reading a book on my sofa with a cat curled up beside me on the top back of the sofa – she lifted her head and watched the ghost cat run past us.
“It was a shadow cat. I haven’t seen it since but I have felt a cat rubbing against my ankle every now and again out of the blue. Nothing there.
“It happens. If cats can be ghosts, so can dogs.”
