The Hallmark Channel faced a lot of backlash on the social media platform and now they have agreed to air the LGBT themed ads on their platform despite the resistance and requests coming in from the family groups.
The Hallmark Cards, Inc. CEO, Mike Perry apologized to everyone for causing any sort of hurt and disappointment for the Zola ad which feathers a lesbian wedding kiss and promised to build a better and inclusive atmosphere in the company’s programming.
Mike further said that The Crown Media team has been affected by this decision but the company says that everything was unintentional from their side.
Mike said that they think that we have made a wrong decision but our mission is only to help all the people connect together and celebrate the traditions.
Anything that is happening other than making moments meaningful is not something that the company is thinking of doing. The company will look forward to more ways to be inclusive and celebrate all the differences in a positive manner.
The company has also agreed to work with Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). People started boycotting the Hallmark channel after thinking that the content that they are allowing is not family-friendly and it’s inappropriate to show it on the television like this.
Families are raising issues by saying that it was one of those channels which were completely family-oriented but now we cannot sit and watch it with our kids around us because LGBT ads are coming up on the television.
The families said that we love the company but we cannot sit and watch these ads with our kids.
