The Karate Kid star Robert Garrison has tragically passed away at the age of 59 after a series of health issues that have taken its toll on the actor.
As TMZ reported, the actor, who is best known for his role as Tommy in The Karate Kid, has passed away at a West Virginia hospital after suffering from several health conditions.
Besides his role in The Karate Kid, Mr. Garrison made an appearance in several other hits such as Cobra Kai, Coach, and MacGyver.
According to the family, Robert has spent over a month fighting kidney and liver problems. Unfortunately, he succumbed to the diseases, leaving the family forced to prepare arrangements for his funeral.
“Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments on my appearance in COBRA KAI. Makes me feel great. Had a wonderful time doing it,” Robert announced earlier in 2019 after the second season of Cobra Kai aired.
Speaking of his brother’s tragic death, Patrick said:
“My brother was a fun-loving guy. He enjoyed people and he enjoyed life. He liked to have fun and make people laugh up until the very end. He will definitely be missed.”
Garrison was best-known for his appearance in The Karate Kid, 1984, in which he played the Cobra Kai dojo member named Tommy.
Following the movie’s sequel in 1986, the star played roles in hits such as Coach and MacGyver before taking a break from acting in the 1990s. Garrison once again returned to the big screens in 2018 after he took on a role in Cobra Kai.
While the actor kicked off his career with several minor appearances in various movies and TV shows, it wasn’t until The Karate Kid that he rose to fame.
