A 28-year-old man was disemboweled by a group of people in New York just because he asked why they were staring at him.
According to NYPD, the man was in the Morrisania section of the Bronx when he was attacked and stabbed in the stomach.
The horrifying incident occurred around 1:30 am near Washington Avenue and East 167 street, a spokeswoman for the department told Daily Mail.
The man was stabbed in the stomach with an unknown object and was rushed by emergency services to Lincoln Hospital. He remains in critical condition.
According to the New York Post, the incident occurred after the man approached a group of people and asked why they were looking at him.
One of them then slashed the man in the lower abdomen, causing his internal organs to spill out. The man managed to go to a local fire house and contacted 911.
The NYPD says the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-8477.
One internet user commented: “There will be much worse and a lot more if they defund the NYPD or the cops decided to go on strike. i wonder then who will take the flak?”
Another wrote: “You don’t walk up to strangers there, at that time of night, and ask them that question. Unless you’re totally out of your mind.”
Someone else said: “I’m from New York originally. When someone asks ” Who are you looking at?”, it usually means they want to fight you. That’s why on the subway people read the ads or look at their feet, or close their eyes. This was years ago, in the 1970s and 1980s. Eventually NYC became safer. Regardless of who was the instigator, I hope this young man will be alright.”
