Christina Applegate received her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday.
The 50-year-old American actress, who appeared in Bad Moms, Vacation, The Sweetest Thing, and many other films and tv shows, was pictured walking barefoot with the support of a cane as she was honored with a star on Los Angeles’ Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The appearance marks the first time Applegate braved her condition in public after revealing she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis last year.
Taking a strike at the disease that made her gain forty pounds and forced her to use a cane while walking, the Emmy Award winner marked her nails so that they spelled out FU MS [f*** you multiple sclerosis].
For the occasion, the actress dressed in black and was accompanied by Katey Sagal, her friend and Married With Children co-star.
“This day means more to me that you could possibly imagine. I don’t say I have friends, I have family. These people take care of me every day of my life, and without them I don’t know what I would do,” Applegate said in her speech during the Monday ceremony.
Fighting back tears, she added that “the most important person in this world” is her 11-year-old daughter Sadie Grace whom she shares with Martyn LeNoble.
“You are so much more than even you know. You are so beautiful and kind and loving and smart and interesting, and I am blessed every day that I get to wake up and take you to school,” she said as she addressed her daughter directly.
“You are my everything. Thank you for standing by my side through all of this.”
Turning her attention back to the audience, Applegate showed her funny side as she poked fun at her diagnosis saying: “Oh and by the way: I have a disease. Did you not notice?”
