Cyndi Lauper delivered a powerful and energetic performance as she took to the stage at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on Tuesday.
The 69-year-old American pop icon, singer, and songwriter donned a colorful suit and a purple mohawk as she performed her greatest hits as part of her tour in Australia.
Cyndi kept her makeup simple with purple eyeshadow and purple lipstick matching her explosive haircut.
The concert comes shortly after the ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ hitmaker revealed she had stepped away from the limelight because she no longer cares about the fame.
“You can’t live your whole life worrying about staying famous,” she previously said in an interview with AARP The Magazine.
“If losing some fame means doing what you want, you gotta go with what you want,” she added.
Lauper rose to fame back in the 1980s thanks to hits including the likes of True Colors, Time After Time, and I Drove All Night.
Throughout her successful career, the singer took home two Grammy Awards while being nominated 16 times.
Though she decided to put fame to rest to focus on her passions, fame found her and Lauper received her own Hollywood Walk of Fame star back in 2016. Back in 2012, she also composed the 2012 Broadway hit Kinky Boots which later won the Tony Award.
While many things have changed over the last three decades, the NYC native admitted she’s still a fan of colorful hairdos and heavily-patterned clothes that became a big hit in pop culture back in the late 80s.
“I think I have reached an age when I can have pink hair if I want – or blue hair,” Lauper says.
