Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has vowed to renounce his US citizenship following Supreme Court’s controversial ruling.
Protests have erupted across the States after SCOTUS decided to overturn the federal ‘Roe v Wade’ bill that saw basic abortion rights protected nationwide.
Among people who were left devastated by the overturn of the 1973 case was Green Day’s star singer Billie Joe Armstrong who blasted the Supreme Court and vowed to leave America for good during his London concert on Friday.
“There’s too much f***ing stupid in the world,” the rocker told his fans before being met with loud applause when he vowed to move to the UK and renounce his US citizenship.
“F*** America. I’m f***ing renouncing my citizenship. I’m f**king coming here. There’s just too much f***ing stupid in the world to go back to that miserable f***ing excuse for a country.”
Insisting that he is sure about what he was saying, the singer added: “Oh, I’m not kidding, you’re going to get a lot of me in the coming days.”
Excited fans also claimed that Armstrong yelled “f*** the Supreme Court” before performing his hit song ‘American Idiot’ at London Stadium.
After his declaration, Armstrong received lots of support from his fans of which some agreed with him but suggested the situation isn’t much better in the UK.
“Green Day opened with America Idiot which is expected but the lyrics seem oddly fitting again,” one person wrote.
“If @billiejoe was serious when he said, ‘F**k America. F**k the American Supreme Courts. I’m moving to England,’ he’d never have to buy another beer… ever. The North of England awaits you sir,” another said.
The third suggested: “I will help u pack just tell me when.”
This isn’t the first time Billie got very vocal about the pressing political scene. Previously, he slammed Former President Donald Trump and accused him of “holding half the country hostage.” He also dedicated an entire album to bashing the war in Iraq and Former President George W. Bush.
