Robert De Niro has reacted to Hollywood colleague Al Pacino’s baby news and suggested the two fathers could be in for some playdates.
De Niro, 79, welcomed his seventh child – a baby girl named Gia Virgini – with his girlfriend Tiffany Chen back in April.
The happy news had since sparked a divisive debate with critics slamming the iconic actor for becoming a father at an old age and accusing him of potentially forcing his child to grow up without a dad.
Now, however, all attention was shifted to The Godfather star Al Pacino, 83, who is expecting his fourth child and his first baby with girlfriend Noor Alfallah, 29.
Reacting to the news was also De Niro who was asked by Extra if playdates with Al Pacino and his family could come to pass in the near future.
“Good question,” the Goodfellas star responded. “Floor play.”
The Hollywood A-lister went on to say that he will spend Father’s Day on June 18 “with everyone” in a simple fashion.
Quipping about his fatherhood, he added: “I’m going to have a new one every year.”
De Niro previously opened up about being a parent back in April when he shocked ET Canada interviewer Brittnee Blair by correcting him when he asked him about his “six kids.”
“Seven, actually. I just had a baby,” the actor responded.
Elsewhere in the interview, De Niro admitted he was sometimes “stern” with his children even though he believes in “being loving with kids.”
“I mean, there’s no way around it with kids. I don’t like to have to lay down the law and stuff like that. But, [sometimes] you just have no choice. And any parent, I think, would say the same thing,” he said.
“You always want to do the right thing by the children and give them the benefit of the doubt but sometimes you can’t.”
The 79-year-old Hollywood star continued: “You know, my kids disagree with me at times, and they’re respectful. My daughter, she’s 11, she gives me grief sometimes and I argue with her. I adore her, but, you know. And my youngest now, that’ll be more to come. But, that’s what it is.”
