Will Smith is reportedly feeling upset by Chris Rock’s Netflix special in which the comedian doubled down on his jokes about the actor and his wife, Jada Pinkett.
As one insider told Entertainment Weekly, the Hollywood legend heard about Rock’s recent jokes through other people even though he didn’t watch the “insulting” show himself.
“Will is embarrassed and hurt by what Chris said about him and his family in his Netflix special. He didn’t watch it, but he had people tell him what Chris said. It’s everywhere when you look online and on social media, so Will and Jada have seen comments about it,” the source explained.
They went on to claim that Smith and Pinkett are upset with Netflix for allowing Rock to continue his narrative against them.
“Will is also upset that Netflix was a part of this and thinks Chris insulting Jada again is below the belt. He is upset that Netflix gave Chris this platform to share these messages and thinks it’s distasteful,” the insider continued.
In his comedy piece for Netflix, Rock finally opened up about last year’s Academy Awards incident during which he was slapped in the face by Oscar-winner Will Smith.
The comedian now admitted that the slap hurt while taking a jab at Smith for taking out his anger on him even though “everybody in the world” called Will out for being a “b****” when the news of his wife’s cheating broke out.
“Will Smith is significantly bigger than me. We are not the same size. Will Smith does movies with his shirt off. You’ve never seen me do a movie with my shirt off. Will Smith played Muhammad Ali in a movie. You think I auditioned for that part? I played Pookie in ‘New Jack City.’ I played a piece of corn in ‘Pootie Tang,’” Rock said.
In his Netflix special, he added: “Will Smith practices Selective Outrage. Everybody who really knows, knows I had nothing to do with that shit. I didn’t have any ‘entanglements.’
“His wife was f*cking her son’s friend.
I normally would not talk about this sh*t… I have no idea why two talented people would do something that f*cking lowdown.
We’ve all been cheated on. Everybody in here been cheated on. None of us has ever been interviewed by the person that cheated on us… on television. She hurt him way more than he hurt me.
”Rock also revealed that he attempted to reconcile with the actor following the controversial Oscars only to receive no answer from Smith.
“Everybody in the world called him a b*tch. I tried to call the mother*cker. I tried to call that man and give him my condolences. He didn’t pick up for me,” Rock claimed.
While Rock seems to have said everything there was about the matter, one source close to the comedian suggested that he is now finally ready to move on and leave the events of the 2022 Academy Awards in the past.
“He said everything he wanted to say. It was funny, self-deprecating, and thought-provoking. Chris is ready to move on,” the insider said.
