Nicki Minaj has officially tied the knot with her rapper boyfriend Kenneth Petty less than a year after the two became an item.
While the 36-year-old Super Bass rapper was referring to her 41-year-old boyfriend as a ‘husband’ for several months, she has now shared that the two have officially been married.
The news came to light as Nicki shared a video on her Instagram account and showed her fans Mr. & Mrs. themed mugs along with matching caps with bride and groom written on them.
“???????? Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty 10•21•19,” she captioned her video, referring to her new legal name.
Following the wedding, Nicki has also teased her fans with a photo of her expensive, $1.1 million diamond wedding ring that the couple first displayed during their Halloween photoshoot.
During the photoshoot, Kenneth was dressed as the evil doll Chucky whereas Minaj portrayed the Bride of Chucky.
In their snaps, the couple also tagged Rafaello And Co, the company responsible for designing their rings.
As TMZ reported, Kenneth was involved in the design of Nicki’s giant ring which allegedly took months to be completed.
Previously, in August, Minaj has admitted requesting a marriage license in her Queen Radio show.
“We still had to pick it up and I was traveling, by the time I came back, we had to renew it again. From that time, you have 90 days to get married. That was about a week ago, so now I have about 80 days,” she said.
“I have to work on my album and I have a lot to focus on that I don’t want to do the big wedding now. We’ll do the big wedding later.”
Despite indicating that her career was still a priority at that time, Minaj said she was feeling very grateful for what she has with her partner.
“I’m very happy about that because my baby makes me so happy,” she said.
While not all of her fans were supportive of the relationship due to Kenneth’s criminal record involving manslaughter and sexual assault, Minaj struck back at the critics and defended her husband’s honor.
“He was 15, she was 16 … in a relationship. But go awf Internet. Y’all can’t run my life. Y’all can’t even run y’all own life. Thank you boo,” she wrote.
