Amber Heard said in a statement that she is ‘disappointed’ by the verdict after the jury sided with her ex-husband Johnny Depp, awarding him more than $10 million in damages.
A source told PEOPLE that the Aquaman star, who welcomed her first baby Oonagh Paige in April 2021, is “still upset” about the verdict but he is now focusing on being a mom after losing mother-daughter time during the trial in Virginia.
“Amber spent the weekend with her baby daughter,” the source said. “She is frustrated about the verdict.”
The source also said that Heard does not understand how the jury reached their decision despite “all the evidence” her attorneys presented.
“She is figuring out the next legal step,” the source said.
Heard’s attorney Elaine Bredehoft recently confirmed that the actress plan to appeal the verdict, claiming ‘lopsided’ social media attention could’ve affected the decision.
Days before the trial started, Heard took to Instagram and shared a photo of her baby playing with balloons as they celebrated her first birthday.
She captioned her post: “My little O is a year old today. I still can’t believe you’re here. The greatest year.”
During the trial, Heard testified about receiving hurtful messages about her child, with some people allegedly telling her that they wanted to put her child in a microwave.
“For now, she wants to just focus on her baby girl,” the source continued. “The trial took away a lot of special mommy time.”
The 36-year-old actress is now looking forward to spending summer with her baby and family.
Another source told PEOPLE that Depp is “focused on himself” right now, adding that the actor is “looking for positivity and to move away from negativity.”
