Compared to their A-list pals, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are ‘poor,’ said former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown.
The royal biographer, who recently responded to reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were searching for a new home, described their Montecito home as a ‘humble cottage’ and added that they ‘didn’t have enough money’ compared to their A-listers friends.
She also joked that if the duchess fancies trading up, ‘Elon Musk is still single.’
Harry and Meghan’s $22 million fortune pales in comparison to super-rich celebrities who have made California their home.
One of their neighbors, Oprah Winfrey, is worth $2.5 billion while Beyonce and Jay-Z – who they met at the 2019 premiere of Lion King – are worth an estimated $1.5 billion.
Tyler Perry, who hosted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex when they first arrived in America, comes in at $884 million.
Other California residents, Kylie Jenner and Ellen DeGeneres, have $995 million and $498 million.
Recent reports reveal that the former actress has been looking for a ‘private estate’ in Hope ranch.
But speaking at the Henley Literary Festival, the royal biographer said: “It’s not very pleasant to be a D-list celebrity who, for them, doesn’t have enough money. It’s a wholly different game to be with those super-rich people.
“In Montecito, where they live, their $14 million mansion is a humble cottage compared to what these other people have.”
Brown continued: “Yes, and at some point it might be more than a new house she’s looking for.”
“Elon Musk is still single, that’s all I have to say,” she joked.
According to The Telegraph, Brown’s claimed that Harry’s upcoming memoir may never be released.
“If the book continues, I don’t think there is any way for Harry to return. So my view has always been that the book won’t see the light of day,” she added.
