NBA star Victor Wembanyama, whose security guard allegedly slapped Britney Spears in the face, has spoken out.
The singer took to Instagram and claimed she just ‘tapped him on the shoulder’ after she noticed him at a Las Vegas hotel.
She also told her fans that the slap ‘nearly knocked me down.’ Her remarks came only hours after the NBA top draft pick spoke out about the incident.
Wembanyama said during a press conference that Britney tried to grab him from behind, forcing his security to intervene.
The pop star then wrote on Instagram: “Traumatic experiences are not new to me and I have had my fair share of them. I was nor prepared for what happened to me last night.”
She explained that she recognized the athlete in a hotel lobby before seeing him again in a restaurant. She then decided to approach him to congratulate him.
“It was really loud, so I tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention,” the singer went on.
“I am aware of the players statement where he mentions “I grabbed him from behind” but I simply tapped him on the shoulder,” Britney continued.
“His security then back handed me in the face without looking back, in front of a crowd. Nearly knocking me down and causing my glasses off my face.”
She also described the incident as ‘super embarrassing to share with the world,’ adding that her security team has never attacked anyone.
“In fact, that night, I was swarmed by a group of at least 20 fans. My security team didn’t hit any of them,” she added.
Spears’ security team has filed a police report against the security guard and accused him of battery.
