The Duke of Sussex has spoken out about how he sees the legacy of the late Princess Diana in his children Archie and Lilibet.
Prince Harry paid tribute to his mother on what would’ve been her 61st birthday during a virtual ceremony for the Diana Awards.
He also said that since becoming a husband to Meghan and becoming a father to Archie and Lilibet, the voice of his mother has become ‘even stronger.’
Harry’s brother, Prince William did not make an appearance in the ceremony but sent a letter to the winners saying the Princess of Wales would be “so proud” of their achievements.
The annual awards take place in memory of Diana and were broadcasted online.
The Diana Award honors people aged between 9 and 25 for their humanitarian work and social action. 180 philanthropists from 29 countries were honored during the ceremony.
Harry appeared via video link and welcomed the young participants to the awards.
“My mother instilled in me a drive to speak up and fight for a better world. And now, as a husband and parent, my mother’s voice is even stronger in my life,” he said.
“There isn’t a day during the past two and a half decades where I haven’t thought about the mark she left, not only on me and my brother, but on all of our lives.
“I see her legacy in all of you. I see her legacy in a Diana Award community that spans multiple generations. I see her legacy every time I meet with families, young people, and children from all corner of the world.”
The Duke of Sussex also said that he sees his mother’s legacy when he looks at his children, Archie and Lilibet.
“I see my mum’s legacy when I look at my own children every single day… I know the memory of my mum will never fade because I see her spirit in all of you,” he added.
The last time Harry and William were seen in the same place was during the Queen’s platinum celebrations in June when they both attended the thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
