Singer and songwriter Tems left people behind her unable to see the stage after she wore ‘the most selfish gown’ at the 2023 Oscars.
The 27-year-old, who co-wrote Rihanna’s Academy Award-nominated hit Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, has gone viral on social media because of her enormous attire at the awards, which was held at the Doly Theater in Hollywood, California.
She wore a massive white dress that featured a huge shoulder piece and a long train when she attended the star-studded event.
Even though she dazzled in her outfit, photos of her sitting in the audience with the enormous headpiece quickly circulated online, with many internet users commenting about how she blocked the video of audience members behind her.
One Twitter user shared a photo of a white curtain and wrote: “What people sitting behind Tems are seeing.”
Another tweeted: “Imagine scoring an invite to the Oscars and discovering your seat is behind Tems.”
A third said: “I can’t help but laugh because every time I see Tems I know them people behind her are SICK.”
Someone else commented: “If I was sitting behind Tems I would be pissed. Oscars need to enforce a dress code after this year for a mess like that.”
Another added: “Oscars, make Tems sit in the back or remove that outrageous view-obstructing piece.”
“The lady behind Tems’ neck is going to be hurting after tonight,” another joked.
“The dress is beautiful but impractical for being an audience member, which is a shared experience. Being considerate is courteous. But that said, she looks stunning,” someone else wrote.
Others were quick to put the blame on the creators of the gown, with one person saying: “Her designers should’ve thought this through!”
