Hollywood actor David Lawrence Schwimmer, who gained popularity across the globe for starring as Ross Geller in the hit sitcom Friends, celebrates his 57th birthday.
The star was born on November 2, 1966, in New York City and was raised in a Jewish household. He was still very young when his family decided to move to Los Angeles where one of his teachers encouraged him to attend summer programs in acting.
He then went to Northwestern University and received a Bachelor’s degree in speech and theatre.
Even though the 1994 sitcom Friends brought Schwimmer fame, he has already been working in the entertainment industry since 1989.
He started his career by playing a supporting role in 1898’s A Deadly Silence.
But it was his role as Ross Geller that made him a household name, alongside his co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and Lisa Kudrow.
The sitcom became one of the highest-rated TV shows until it ended in 2004.
Aside from Friends, Schwimmer has also worked in Kissing a Fool, Wolf, All the Rage, voice work in Madagascar, Uprising, The Pallbearer, Uprising, and more.
He has also produced and directed many projects like Nevermind Nirvana, Humanoid, Joey, Americana, Trust and Irreversible.
The star has a whopping net worth of $130 million, with reports revealing that he earned $60 million from Friends alone.
He continues to earn money from it as royalties, which is around $7 million per year.
As Schwimmer turns 57, fans and aspiring artists take to social media to greet the actor.
One person commented: “I hope he’s doing okay. Happy birthday!”
Another wrote: “Wishing him a happy birthday I’m sure he’s not having a very good day. See that he’s mourning right now. God bless him.”
A third said: “Happy Birthday David! Enjoy your day. So very sorry for the loss of your dear friend Matthew.”
