Kim Kardashian is facing further backlash after more photos and a new video emerged claiming to show tears and rips to Marilyn Monroe’s dress.
Kim 41, wore the iconic ‘Happy Birthday Mr. President’ gown to the Met Gala on May 2.
An Instagram video shared by Darrell Rooney claimed to show the elegant gown at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! In Hollywood where it was loaned by the Kardashian star for the red carpet.
The video, which was later reposted by Diet Prada, shows close-up footage of the back right strap of the dress.
Furious fans are claiming that the visible tear happened when the gown was transported to New York and worn by Kim to the Met Gala.
“Notice the damage to the right strap in the back of Marilyn Monroe’s 1962 gown,” Darrell wrote.
In another Instagram post showing the stretched fabric, Darrell said: “Look at the damage caused by KK. Irreversible. Marilyn Monroe’s 1962 gown has multiple tatters now.”
His posts went viral and prompted Marilyn Monroe’s fans to slam Kim and Ripley’s.
One person wrote: “This is absolutely disgusting. I am so upset she ruined a beautiful piece of history tailored just for one queen and one queen only…. MARILYN.”
Another said: “She somehow thought that wearing that dress was going to elevate her, as she so desperately wants to be in the league of the likes of MM.”
Someone else wrote: “Ripleys don’t deserve the dress. They’ve proved they have no integrity & lack the professional skills to maintain historical artifacts of value.”
According to report, Kim had tried to lose weight for three weeks in order to fit the gown.
She said that she cried when she realized that she did not fit into the iconic dress during her first try.
“I had this idea to put it on and to try it on, and they came with armed guards and gloves. I tried it on and it didn’t fit me, and so I looked at them and said give me like three weeks, and I had to lose 16 pounds, down today, to be able to fit this,” she said.

The star also told Vogue how she went on a strict diet to fit into the gown. “I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein,” she shared. “I didn’t starve myself, but I was so strict.”
