In a recent interview with Hollywood star Dax Shepard, the Duke of Sussex goes into a conversation about his past traumas when he used to deal with substances such as alcohol and drugs.
He comments that he had gone wild, but was not aware of his actions until he got older.
Harry tells sources that he has had a past relationship with drinking heavily and smoking cannabis. He had been taken to a residential center for drug use at the young age of 16 once Prince Charles found out about his habits. At the center, they warned users that their addictions started with what Harry was doing at the time.
In the interview, he was desperate to hide his relationship with Meghan, going incognito in public places and had to pretend they didn’t know each other when they first started dating.
Harry provides insight of what it felt like- it represented the Truman Show, where the main character discovers that his whole life is a drama, having to start therapy after seeing that Harry was angry.
He also comments about life living with the royals, saying that “it’s the job… grin and bear with it.
Get on with it.
I was in my early twenties and I was thinking I don’t want this job, I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to be doing this. ” He adds that he’s seen what goes on behind the scenes, claiming that he didn’t want to be a part of it.He also mentions that living in Los Angeles makes him feel like he can lift his head, the tension in his shoulders have dropped and he can “walk around feeling a little bit more free.”
Harry explains that Meghan didn’t have to be a princess because he is a prince, that “you can create the life that will be better than any princess.”
After mentioning his past addiction to the Hollywood Star, he had admitted that he was privileged.
Though he truly believed that he could move along the spectrum.He also touches on his mental health struggles when he was a child, constantly being told that he needed help.
Because of this, it has caused him to run away, his feelings were rejected and he had to pretend that he was fine, which is why he chose these methods to escape reality.
