A sad-looking bulldog has become a viral sensation after his heartbreaking picture went viral and inspired people to help flatten the coronavirus infections curve.
As Rashida Ellis from Atlanta, Georgia, explained, her bulldog named Big Poppa has been gloomy since the lockdown started.
“Big Poppa has been so sad today, I think he miss playing with the kids in the building. He just watches them from the patio,” the 38-year-old woman wrote on Twitter where she shared a photo of her sad-looking pooch.
Uploading the same picture on Instagram, Ellis wrote:
“All I want to do is play with the kids in my building but due to Covid-19… I can’t. I just watch them from the patio. Flatten The Curve please.”
Soon enough, the picture went viral with hundreds of people, including celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres and Maisie Williams, commenting and resharing Big Poppa’s story.
“I will find a cure myself if it means seeing Big Poppa smile again,” a page called WeRateDogs joked.
“Stay inside. Flatten this curve. Do it for Big Poppa,” Ellen DeGeneres wrote.
“Not being dramatic but I would literally die for big poppa,” Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams said.
After Big Poppa’s photo went viral, Ellis spoke out to Buzzfeed News and suggested “we can all relate” to her bulldog at this time.
“We can’t do the things that we used to do, we can’t hang out with our friends,” she told Buzzfeed News.
“I think it just happened to be this dog – and not only is he so sad and cute and you want everything to change for him, but you want everything to change for yourself, too, because we’re all in this situation.”
As the 38-year-old went on to say, her doggie is more sluggish than usual and “just walks out to the patio looking for people.”
“I can tell he’s not as happy and excited as he usually is. He’s probably tired of just me playing with him,” Ellis concluded.
