A woman was caught on camera leaning out of a moving car and brandishing her AK-47 in broad daylight.
The bizarre show of arms took place on July 11 during an “illegal exhibition of speed event” at Barneveld and McKinnon Avenues in San Francisco.
During the event, a woman leaned out of a speeding Cadillac only to flaunt her AK-47 which is, provided that the weapon was real, illegal.
Since the bizarre incident, the picture of the woman wielding the presumed assault weapon has gone viral, whereas the police managed to track down the car used in the exhibition of speed event.
After identifying the vehicle, San Francisco Traffic Safety confirmed that the Cadillac has been seized. It is not clear to us, however, whether the woman in the picture was identified and charged with the possession of an AK-47.
“On 7/11/2021, during an illegal exhibition of speed event at Barneveld & McKinnon, a passenger leaned out of a Cadi holding an AK47,” the SFPD Traffic Safety tweeted.
“SFPD Traffic Company personnel worked up a case, and seized this particular vehicle today.”
Meanwhile, Adam Lobsinger of the San Francisco Public Information Office spoke out to MailOnline to confirm that the investigation remains open.
“The incident is being investigated by the SFPD Stunt Driving Response Unit and the SFPD Traffic Company. Due to the fact that this is an open an active investigation we cannot comment further,” he said.
Lobsinger also confirmed that the exhibition of speed is “an illegal stunt driving event commonly referred to as a sideshow.” If slapped with a misdemeanor charge, the driver could face up to 90 days in jail.
Meanwhile, however, the woman brandishing an AK-47 could be jailed for up to three years since owning an assault weapon in the state of California is considered a serious crime.
