A 1-year-old girl named Zoe from Minnesota suffers from deadly cancer and is in urgent need of a bone marrow transplant.
Kirsten Smith knew something was not right when her 1-year-old constantly cried last month.
Kirsten and her husband took Zoe to a doctor who gave her antibiotics for an ear infection.
However, her condition didn’t change and she was then diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia on April 23.
Zoe underwent her first chemotherapy treatment after being airlifted to Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital in Utah.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, only her mother is allowed to be with Zoe while other family members can’t visit her.
A GoFundMe has been set up for Zoe to help her parents pay for her medical bills.
The page revealed that Zoe’s case is one-of-a-kind and it has become harder for her parents as it has come during a global pandemic.
The GoFundMe page has so far raised $82,188 of their $200,000 goal.
Her father is unable to visit her and is told he couldn’t come unless she was dying.
Smith told KJZZ: “My husband called Primary Children’s and what they told him was basically unless she was dying that he couldn’t come which when your child is diagnosed with cancer is all it feels like is my child is dying.”
Zoe is now in need of a life-saving bone marrow transplant and her family has urged anyone under the age of 45 to register at Be the Match and send an email to Zoe.Artemis.Smith@gmail.com if they are willing to donate.
You can also donate by visiting her GoFundMe page to help her parents.
Zoe’s parents are hopeful that she will beat cancer and will go on to live a happy, healthy life like any other child.
