You may have heard of a number of weird food obsessions but we believe that nothing beats this young girl’s 10-year streak of eating nothing but chicken nuggets.
Meet Jessica Thompson whose mother claims she has been obsessed with chicken nuggets since she was just 18 months old. While many people refer to her as a fussy food eater or in some cases the aftereffects of lazy parenting, the situation is actually much deeper than what it appears.
And that’s because she actually had a medical issue called ARFID which is the abbreviation for Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder.
Mom Julia explains how her daughter actually had a phobia related to other foods but what exactly led up to that fear is yet to be known.
Speaking during a recent interview with Mercury Press, the mother revealed how she ultimately opted to take a professional’s help to help overcome her daughter’s food phobia and that meant visiting a therapist who carefully evaluated her daughter’s personality traits and habits as well.
The therapist is actually the one who recognized how Jessica was suffering from an illness that many others brushed off as fussy eating.
It took a hypnotherapist named David Kilmurry a total of three weeks before he witnessed Jessica branch out and try new foods which she had never eaten before, due to her sole obsession with chicken nuggets.
Just last year, the same hypnotherapist made headlines after helping another teen who suffered from a similar problem. That teen reportedly ate sausage for most of his life but with a little assistance, it wasn’t long before he became open to trying new foods.
Today, Jessica is enjoying fruits, vegetables, and whole meals which she had never ever thought of eating in her life. Moreover, she’s even anxious for Christmas dinner where this year, she won’t be indulging or even going near her famous fried finger food meal of chicken nuggets.
