There are terrible diseases like smallpox, mumps, and polio, but it doesn’t end here as there are some horrible disorders which also decreases the chance of a person living.
There are diseases like schistosomiasis, which causes bloody stools and fever; cancrum oris, which is a flesh-eating disease of the mouth and much more.
Recently, Elio Figueredo, who is 13 years old, was detected with a skin shedding disorder. He is the third child of Janet Figuerdo, and she says that while her pregnancy no one suspected any problem, so after his birth, we didn’t expect this condition.
Slowly, after his birth, Elio’s skin started seeming different, and after getting medical tests done, they found that Elio is suffering from a form of ichthyosis.
The disorder shocked both parents and doctors as it is not such a common type of disorder.
According to some doctors, it is a type of disorder where the dead skin cells become thick and dry on the skin’s surface, and it is also called as the fish scale disease because of the texture of the skin.
In severe cases, the skin formation becomes rigid with the deep cracks and scaly skin and also causes terrible infections and face dehydration.
The doctors thought that it is difficult for Elio to make it through the first 12 months, but he proved them wrong by actually surviving through this disorder as he spent initial three years in a special medical facility.
To take care of his skin, he needs to moisturize it every two to three hours and also stay away from sun exposure as that can be a problem for him.
Elio said that people comment a lot about his looks, but now he doesn’t care anymore because now it doesn’t matter to him.
He says that he wants to become a chef when he grows up because he loves cooking. His mother said that his all-time favorite channels are cooking channels. It is an inspiration to see that Elio accepts his flaws and is determined about his future.
