Sloth is the cutest and slowest mammal, and International Sloth Day is celebrated on October 20, AIUNAU Foundation, a non-profit conservation, and wildlife organization based in Colombia created this day in 2010.
The aim of this day is to honor the adorable slow-moving, tree-dwelling, and leaf-eating mammals.
Sloths are arboreal mammals noted for the slowness of movement and for spending most of their lives hanging upside down in the trees of the tropical rainforests of South America and Central America.
The sloth is so named because of its very low metabolism and deliberate movements, sloth being related to the word slow. Sloths have a stomach with four compartments and it takes them almost a month to digest one meal. Sloths are the slowest mammals in the world.
