We’ve all made that promise to lose weight or start eating healthy only to binge on burger or pizza a few hours later.
Now, if we’re talking about long-term weight loss, then there’s no real one-day solution. However, you can still kickstart your weight loss journey by beginning with a simple one-day cleanse. Feeling good after that day should hopefully motivate you to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
Here are a few ways you can do that one-day cleanse:
1 – Prepare in advance
Before your cleanse, make sure that you bought the items that you’ll need and keep your juicer ready. Don’t eat any processed foods or consume alcoholic beverages just before you begin your cleanse.
2 – Start your day with lemon water
You can drink this warm or cold but the important thing is that the pectin contained in a glass of lemon water helps with your digestion. Apart from cleansing your system, having good digestion will help keep your hunger pangs at bay.
3 – A wholesome breakfast kicks the bloat
When you’re done with your morning drink, the right kind of breakfast will get rid of the excess gas in your body. Avoid bread or cereal, or variations of the two, because they keep water in the body which goes against what you’re working toward. Instead, go for a protein-based breakfast like a scrambled egg with salmon. These two will already satisfy your protein and omega-3 needs, too.
4 – Drink enough water
Since you’re cleansing your body, water will naturally play a role in that so make sure to get enough of it. Water will hydrate you and prevent you from overeating. Your skin will also look better.
5 – Eat properly and regularly
Eat only whole foods and make sure you get three square meals a day and one snack. By eating regularly, you reduce the tendency to binge because you’re not starving. Whole grains, vegetables, lean meat, and fruits are types of food you should be eating. Steer clear of processed food and ones that contain artificial sweeteners.
6 – Refresh yourself with an Epsom salt bath
An Epsom salt bath helps clear away toxins on your skin while at the same time helping relax your muscles and body. A cleanse can also leave you cold and shaky due to withdrawal symptoms. In that case, an Epsom salt bath is just what you need.
7 – Move your body
Nothing revs up your metabolism as exercise does. The increased heart rate brought about by exercise also helps with blood flow and assists in the removal of toxins. But exercise doesn’t necessarily mean going to the gym. Aside from home workouts, you can simply mow the lawn, sweep the floor, and other chores that require the use of your whole body. This has the added benefit of also cleaning up your home environment!
