A mother can be heard in a 911 call telling a dispatcher that her husband killed their daughters.
The distraught wife told an emergency dispatcher that her husband stabbed their two daughters before taking his own life.
The father has been identified as 41-year-old Timothy Takehara. According to reports, the incident happened around 12:30 am on October 7.
“My husband just stabbed my children,” the mother told the emergency dispatcher.
The dispatcher asked: “With what, ma’am?” to which the agitated mother replied: “I don’t know. A sharp object.”
“How many of them?” the dispatcher asked. “Two. There’s two. I have twin girls,” the distressed wife replied.
Police responded to the scene in 400 block of Swanson Avenue and found the father lying in a pool of blood.
Their two daughters, both aged 9, were found bleeding in the living room.
The father and his two children were all pronounced dead at the scene.
The Placentia Police Department said that Takehara’s mother and wife were inside the house and were not injured.
According to KTTV-LA, the women woke up in the middle of the night after hearing screams and rushed downstairs.
Neighbor Billy Vayda said: “Something was going on, something negative was going on with the family, and it’s sad that nobody picked it up and read what was going on and tried to help them.”
Police said in a statement that the girls were third-graders at Golden Elementary School.
“Our thoughts are with the students’ family, friends, and loved ones as they cope with this tremendous personal loss,” the district said.
