We all have some dream, and we wish that our dream will come true one day.
A 95-year-old woman had a dream to travel in a plane and it turned into reality after she flew on a plane for the very first time.
Gladys Blackburn always wanted to have a trip on a plane, but she never got the chance, despite regularly visiting airports to watch the planes take off and land.
Staff at Milton Court Care Home, in Milton Keynes, set up a ‘wishing tree’ for residents and they fulfilled Gladys’ wish.
So, they arranged everything with London Luton Airport and easyJet to set up the trip.
When Gladys arrived at the airport, she was given the VIP treatment with a glass of champagne before being whisked onto a plane headed for Lake Geneva.
A heart-touching clip shows Glady beaming absolutely, before saying: “I’m in the air flying!”
She was too excited when she finally arrived in Switzerland, telling the care workers “Lake Geneva. Oh boy, oh boy. I like it here.”
Talking about the experience Gladys said: “I was over the moon when they told me about this.
“Being up in the clouds with a glass of champagne and a view of everything below – it was wonderful better than I had imagined. I was nervous at first, but I want to do it again now!”
Gladys Blackburn taking her first ever flight at the grand age of 95, and it proves that there is no age to live your life or fulfill your dreams. We were delighted to help @LDNLutonAirport grant her life-long wish to see Lake Geneva for the first flight of her life.”
Gemma Brooks, who works at Milton Court Care Home, added: “Gladys has only ever traveled abroad by coach in her life. It’s always been a dream of hers to fly and why should dreams have to change just because of your age.
“We’re so grateful to London Luton Airport and easyJet for making her wish come true. They have made a 95-year old woman very, very happy.”
Such a sweet story, Isn’t it?
