Gigi Hadid was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at Owen Roberts International Airport in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands.
According to the reports, the 28-year-old supermodel was traveling with friend Leah Nicole McCarthy when the pair landed on the luxurious island in a private jet.
Upon going through Customs & Border Control, Hadid and McCarthy were stopped by agents who found a small amount of marijuana along with drug paraphernalia.
The pair were then arrested on “suspicion of importation of Ganja and importation of Utensils used for the consumption of ganja.”
It was since found that Hadid bought the ganja legally with a medical license in New York. It was also ruled that the weed was intended for personal use only.
After being processed at the Royal Cayman Islands Detention Center, both Gigi and Leah were released on bail and walked away free.
After pleading guilty to the charges, each of them was fined $1,000. Luckily for them, they avoided any jail time and conviction on their records.
While marijuana remains illegal in the Cayman Islands, CBD oil used for medical purposes has been allowed since 2016.
Following the news of her arrest, Hadid broke her silence with an Instagram post in which she showed off her toned body in a bikini.
“All’s well that ends well,” she captioned her photo.
In another photo, the supermodel is seen posing in a bikini side by side with her friend Leah McCarthy while soaking up the sun.
