A brave mom has refused to switch her premature baby’s life support machine off after doctors claimed he would no longer be able to survive.
The mother explained how traumatizing and sad the whole incident was, leaving her in the most vulnerable position of them all.
Nicole Dib reportedly gave birth to her child at just 25 weeks.
And doctors knew immediately that the only little hope of survival was if they put the child on life support. But even then, as time progressed, the condition started to show no improvements and they told the child’s parents that they would now be required to make some tough decisions.
This would involve switching the life support off. But they failed to pay any heed and held on to the hope that the child would recover, someday.
Little Jibreel was only 1.8 pounds in weight and he struggled with eating and breathing on a daily basis. Moreover, the parents saw the doctors and nursing staff at the hospital work long and hard in keeping him alive.
Day in and day out, the couple was met with so many complications that a point came where the staff informed them he would not be able to survive. Times were getting rough but the mother explained how she knew her baby was a little fighter and he would survive so she never lost hope.
“I remember sitting in the NICU and them telling me that he would not be able to make it. No one wants to hear that. This was our child, he was our precious lifeline”- the mom added.
Defying all of the odds against him and proving doctors wrong, Jibreel did survive. And today he’s four years old. Yes, the challenges are still many but he’s doing so much better healthwise. And it’s all thanks to his mom who didn’t once give up on him, no matter what others told her.
