Halle and Chloe Bailey were reportedly left disgusted and in tears after accidentally eating a burger that contained real meat inside.
Both Halle and Chloe, who is a singer, have been vegans for many years, meaning they avoid all animal produce including meat and foods like eggs, dairy products, and cow’s milk.
Their longtime abstinence from meat came to an abrupt end as the pair were staying at a hotel in Atlanta where they watched Beyoncé perform over the weekend.
In her TikTok story, Chloe revealed that she and her actress sister ordered a pair of Beyond burgers – a vegan alternative to meat burgers – from the hotel staff via the phone.
“So I called to get a Beyond burger for sis and I like usual. Specified that it’s vegan, no butter on the bun, nothing like that,” Chloe explained.
When the burgers arrived, however, the siblings bit into them only to immediately notice that something was off with their order.
“She’s eating the burger and she’s like, ‘Are you sure this is Beyond?’ She took a couple of bites and she said, ‘This is really good, you sure it’s Beyond?’” Chloe added.
“I touched the patty and smelled it and was like, ‘Of course, it’s Beyond, yeah.’ So I finish getting dressed, I take a bite and the juice dripping from the burger is not like a Beyond burger. I just knew it was not a fake burger. The one bite I took and I just knew. Immediately I said, ‘This doesn’t feel right.’”
After calling reception to let them know about her concerns, Chloe was shocked to learn that the staff misunderstood her and sent a pair of brand burgers to their room instead.
“Immediately I’m losing my s***. I gobbled down a whole can of Sprite,” the singer continued.
“Halle’s laughing at me because I’m crying. This is right before the concert yesterday. I’m crying, Halle’s just laughing so hard at me because I’m freaking out.”
Taking her fans by surprise, Chloe also revealed that she managed to stay vegan for over ten long years until the recent incident.
Her sister, The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey, previously revealed that the siblings’ mother was their inspiration for veganism.
“Being vegan started from our mother. One day she was like, ‘I’m gonna try to be vegetarian for a week. You can join me if you’d like.’ We started the week with her and just never went back,” she told Complex back in 2017.
