A woman revealed she had asked her husband for divorce just one day after the two tied the knot because he broke her one and only rule.
Speaking out for Slate’s Dear Prudence column, the woman in question explained that she was left resenting her husband moments after their wedding after the man disrespected her in front of their wedding guests.
According to the disgruntled wife, she had already talked to her husband and told him things between them were over before they could even set off on their honeymoon.
The reason for the woman’s decision? Her husband shoved a cake in her face in front of their wedding guests despite her specifically asking him not to do that.
“I never cared about getting married, but I wasn’t opposed to it.
So when my boyfriend proposed in 2020, we decided to go for it.
We each took on about half the responsibility for organizing the wedding, but I think I was pretty reasonable about compromise when he really wanted something. My only hard-and-fast rule was that he would not rub cake in my face at the reception,” she wrote.“Being a reasonable man who knows me well, he didn’t. Instead, he grabbed me by the back of the head and shoved my head down into it. It was planned since the cake was DESTROYED, and he had a bunch of cupcakes as backup.”
Following the incident at the wedding, the woman almost immediately broke up with her husband despite everyone urging her to reconsider staying with him and forgiving him.
She has since started pondering whether she is overreacting while admitting that she loves the man and that her friends are telling her not to make the mistake of divorcing him so quickly.
Responding to the woman’s concerns were hundreds of netizens who were left divided on what she should do next. While some suggested it was a serious red flag for the woman’s husband to break her trust in front of their wedding guests, others insisted it was a minor mistake that should be properly addressed before calling for a divorce.
