A dad was left fuming after his daughter suffered blisters as a result of her school’s overly strict dress code.
Grace College from Gateshead, England, has come under fire after multiple parents lashed out at the school’s stringent uniform policy and the staff members’ decision to send multiple students home over violations on the first day of school.
Among the teenagers who didn’t see eye to eye with the school’s employees was a 15-year-old girl who allegedly suffered blisters all over her feet when the staff told her to either go back home in her black, ballet-style footwear or wear their spare pair of shoes which were one whole size too small for her.
Afraid to be kicked out of school, the girl walked around in the tiny shoes all day and suffered a series of blisters in the process.
“We have ordered her some shoes but they haven’t come. She wore a pair of shoes that she already had. They were an open shoe and [staff] were saying they had to be closed,” the girl’s fuming dad said.
“The teacher asked what size she was and gave her a size seven. They must have found some in the lost property. They said: ‘If you don’t wear them you will be sent home.’ Both her little toes are now blistered up.”
The fuming dad went on to say that he filed a complaint with the school and that he is currently awaiting a reply.
“The school don’t seem to be supportive whatsoever. It’s like they’re looking for reasons to send them home. They’ve had enough time off and the teachers have been on strike. They should be educating them, not trying their best to send them home. They think more about what they’re wearing than their education.
“I just think it’s getting beyond a joke. I accept they have to have rules but they just seem to be coming out with more. It’s like being in the Army the way they go on, it’s unreal.”
Another fuming parent, Melissa Pope, also spoke out and claimed her 11-year-old daughter was sent home because of her plain black doll shoes. The mother also insisted that her daughter would no longer go back and that she would transfer schools.
