Bruce Springsteen has shared a devastating announcement amid his ongoing battle with peptic ulcer disease.
The 74-year-old music legend shocked his fans by revealing he’s postponing all of his remaining 2023 shows until the next year due to his ongoing recovery from the ulcers in his stomach and intestine.
“Bruce Springsteen has continued to recover steadily from peptic ulcer disease over the past few weeks and will continue treatment through the rest of the year on doctor’s advice,” the statement shared by the singer’s reps reads.
“With this in mind, and out of an abundance of caution, all remaining 2023 tour dates for Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will be postponed until 2024.
“Rescheduled dates for each of the 2023 shows, including those postponed earlier this month, will be announced next week, all taking place at their originally scheduled venues.”
The announcement also explained that those with tickets to the rescheduled dates would be able to get a refund should they not be able to attend the concerts next year.
Along with the statement was also a personal message from Springsteen who thanked his fans for support and encouragement.
“Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement, and support. I’m on the mend and can’t wait to see you all next year,” the singer said.
The news comes as an insider revealed that Bruce’s loved ones urged the singer to take a break from performing and focus on his recovery instead.
“Bruce has had a rough couple of years. He’s had COVID several times and even had to pull the plug on shows in August due to getting the latest strain,” a source told DailyMail.com. “This was just a couple of weeks ago and it really takes a toll on someone of his age.”
The insider added: “It has really had an impact on his overall well-being. Everyone wants him to just focus on his health and not push himself.”
