A woman concerned about her marriage has spoken out and sought advice after giving her husband a very harsh ultimatum.
The lady in question revealed she fears her marriage will never recover after she forced her partner into giving away his precious puppy just weeks after they got the pooch.
She also explained that her husband had nagged her about getting a dog for years while promising that he would be the one to take care of it. She further claimed she didn’t want to get a dog because she didn’t want to take on extra responsibilities.
While she eventually caved under the pressure and allowed her husband to get a pooch, things turned very messy very quickly.
“So the puppy arrives and is adorable. Very cute – but very, very loud, energetic, whiney, messy. Within days she’d chewed through a pair of heels, peed all over my vintage rug, and – believe it or not – cracked a mirror,” the woman explained in her letter to author and DailyMail columnist Jane Green.
“She also howled through the night and, while my husband was attentive, there was no amount of white noise, television, or music that helped me sleep through that. After two weeks I felt like I was going insane. Our house was a mess and I was totally sleep deprived.
“So I put my foot down and gave my husband an ultimatum. Me, or the dog. I told him how unhappy she was making me, that I was struggling to ever accept the lifelong disruption to our routine, and that basically she was driving me insane.”
Though the husband agreed to return the pup, the woman admitted their marriage has looked like a wreck ever since. She also says her husband is now blaming her for his misery while making “a lot of unkind comments” and refusing to touch her.
“I’m thrilled that I have my sanity and sleep back, but it feels to me like I’ve lost my husband in the process. I never wanted a dog but I don’t want a divorce either. Am I going to be forced to endure the hell of a dog for the sake of my marriage?” the woman concluded.
