Bruce Willis’ family has shared an update as the actor continues to battle dementia.
It was in 2022 when the Unbreakable star retired from acting after his family revealed that he was diagnosed with aphasia, a disorder that affects speaking, reading, writing, or understanding speech due to brain damage.
However further tests showed that he has frontotemporal dementia. Since his diagnosis, the action star’s family has shared posts on social media about his progress to help raise awareness of the degenerative brain disease.
Bruce’s daughter Tallulah has shared why the family decided to be open about her father’s condition and also gave an update about his health.
The 29-year-old appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show and said: “He has a really aggressive cognitive disease, a form of dementia that is very rare.
“I think it’s twofold, I think on one hand it’s who we are as a family, but also it’s really important for us to spread awareness about FTD because we had no idea.”
Tallulah also said that speaking about the condition helps the family in some ways.
“If we can take something that we’re struggling with as a family and individually to help other people, to turn it around, to make something beautiful about it, that’s really special for us,” she expressed.
Sharing an update on how her father is doing, Tallulah said: “He is the same, which I think in this regard I’ve learned is the best thing you can ask for.
“I see love when I’m with him, and it’s my dad, and he loves me.”
Aside from Tallulah, Bruce and his ex-wife Demi also share two other daughters: Scout and Rumer. He also has two children, Mabel and Evelyn, with his current wife, Emma Heming Willis.
