Cher has been slammed for her Thanksgiving performance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.
The 77-year-old singer made an appearance and performed a rendition of her new single DJ Play A Christmas Song but many were quick to accuse her of lip-syncing.
Eagle-eyed viewers mentioned that there was a moment when she moved her mic away but it did not affect the sound of her voice.
One person said: “Cher almost forgot she was lip syncing while taking off her coat.”
Another wrote: “Cher looks great but she’s lip syncing, and it’s AWFUL LOL.”
But fans immediately jumped to her defense and argued that all performers lip-syncs for the parade.
“Every single performer has been lip syncing for years. I don’t enjoy it but i get it for the sake of the parade,” one fan tweeted.
Another said sarcastically: “I for one am shocked that Cher is lip syncing at the parade. Just aghast at this revelation. What’s next, you’re gonna tell me professional wrestling is scripted???”
A third added: “I DONT WANT TO HEAR ONE WORD ABOUT CHER LIP SYNCING BECAUSE EVERY PERFORMANCE ON THE PARADE IS LIP SYNCING.”
Someone else said: “Every one of them lip-syncs for the parade. Cher’s outfit and overall Cher-ness outshines the lip-syncing.”
This comes a month after Cher released her first-ever Christmas album, ‘Christmas.’ It features original material and a few older seasonal songs, including Please Come Home For Christmas, Run Rudolph Run, and Santa Baby.
Cher worked with Stevie Wonder for a duet of What Christmas Means To Me, and also with Michael Buble for a reprise of his song Home.
