During the Christmas period, family and friends gather to celebrate, exchange gifts, and eat good foods.
But one woman has shared how her in-laws insisted on hosting holiday meals even though they only like to serve bagels and a fruit bowl.
Writing on the online forum DC Urban Moms and Dads, a woman named Janet complained: “They insist on hosting holiday meals even when others have offered, then they usually propose a “brunch” and serve bagels, a few types of cream cheese and a fruit bowl.”
Janet added: “Then after few hours ask why we are leaving so soon. We are hungry!”
Her post received dozens of replies, with many slamming the in-laws for not serving traditional Christmas meals.
One person commented: “Why not just let someone else hosts who actually wants to serve an actual meal? It comes across as controlling that it must be at THEIR house.”
Another wrote: “This is bizarre. They shouldn’t host if they don’t want to make the effort.”
A third said: “This is one if the stupidest threads ever. Bring your food to the in-laws house, or DON’T GO!! You can do that you know!”
Someone else said: “OP here. It’s just all so absurd. Why don’t they have any self-awareness. They clearly see what [dear husband] & I serve and what my [sister-in-law/brother-in-law] serve when we host.
“If you don’t want to serve a proper meal, why host? I do have food prepared at home for when we get back and are starving.”
