Anya Taylor-Joy left fans heartbroken with her response after she was asked by a reporter if she’s ‘self-conscious’ about her eyes.

Despite her beauty and impressive performances on screen, The Queen’s Gambit star has been the subject of ridicule by trolls online for her unique eyes.

In an interview with W Magazine, the actress was asked: “You have those beautiful eyes and they’re so far apart. When you were a kid, did they make you self-conscious?”

Taylor-Joy then admitted that she has always received negative remarks for her eyes, saying: “I can definitely remember when Facebook was a thing and I was never aware that my eyes were far apart and then someone tagged me in a picture with a fish and they were like, ‘This is you ’cause your eyes are like here.'”

She revealed that she was left ‘really upset’ that she stopped looking at herself in mirrors.

“I still don’t really spend a lot of time in front of mirrors because I don’t really have to deal with my face,” the actress said.

In 2019, the Peaky Blinders star’s view on social media had changed. She told the Vogue how she hesitated to use it at first before she realized its significance.

“I don’t get a lot of hate on my Instagram,” she said. “The people who enjoy my work tend to be quite lovely, so it’s nice to have a community of people who are bigging you up.”

Taylor-Joy’s experiences from being self-conscious to accepting her appearance left fans inspired.
