A husband has come under fire for “punishing” his sick wife by refusing to clean the kitchen while she was sick.
US-based Hannah Misra took the internet by surprise as she shared a clip showing a huge mess in the kitchen at her home. As the woman explained, he husband hadn’t cleaned the kitchen, taken out the trash, or washed any of the dirty dishes for seven days while she was sick.
She also insisted she was forced to take on the dirty and moldy kitchen on her own after she was finally feeling well enough to be back on her feet.
“It’s been seven days since I cleaned my kitchen – in fact it’s been that long since I stepped foot in it,” Hannah explained as she shared a gruesome video showing piles of dirty dishes and trash on TikTok.
“The kitchen is so much worse than I could have imagined. I don’t even want to look in the sink – a huge part of me knows how bad it is going to be because the entire kitchen smells like vinegar. That means there is rotting food hidden somewhere,” she added.
“A huge part of me wants to feel shame over how the kitchen looks. The entire bottom of the sink is filled with old food. Every time I think I’ve seen the worst of it, I’m proven wrong.”
Hannah also zoomed in on one cup that was already filled with mold while showing a spoiled drink, which she prepared for herself before her sickness, in another instance.
“I can’t believe how disgusting things are and I don’t know how to get rid of the smell,” the woman continued.
“Most days I was too exhausted to get out of bed and when I could force myself off of it, it was to take care of my sick little one. When some of my symptoms started to get better, I was working everyday. I also did the laundry and cleaned the entire top floor.
“Acknowledging what I was able to do doesn’t mean that I’m proud of how my kitchen looks. The smell alone told me how bad it was before I even saw it, but at the same time, I can also recognize I did the best that I could this week.”
After the video went viral, viewers were quick to slam the woman’s husband who clearly didn’t take any action to clean the kitchen or take care of the dishes in his wife’s absence.
Defending the man, however, Hannah explained that he wasn’t completely useless saying he did bring her food and medicine. He also walked their dogs and Facetimed with her to keep her company while she was isolating.
“He brought us food, medicine, walked the dogs, worked, Facetimed with me so I’d feel less alone and tried to clean. He’s wasn’t perfect but I’m often not either,” she added in the comments.
