It wouldn’t be wrong to mention that ‘The View’ co-host Whoopi Goldberg is a very outspoken celeb who is never fearful of speaking her mind.
Now, the star is showing another, more vulnerable side to her character. And that’s all thanks to the release of her latest memoir, ‘Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, and Me” which she says describes some challenging hurdles in her life.
This includes the star’s desperate and silent cry for help with a serious drug addiction problem. Whoopi says she was so afraid that she would be dead soon if this cocaine addiction didn’t come under control.
“I tried to stay far away from drugs, but pot was one exception. This was after I cleaned up during the 70s era”- she continued.
Moreover, the Oscar winner added how she was even admitted into rehab to better curb the problem before getting a great amount of fame in life.
Meanwhile, the 68-year-old star says that it wouldn’t be wrong that places like Hollywood and New York are just the right examples of how recreational drug use can seemingly get out of hand. And that really added to her problem.
Goldberg even detailed more about parties where she knew that partygoers were never fearful of things going wrong as they knew cops could never reach this location.
It was easy to use, abuse, and access drugs at these top events and that really added to her neverending struggles. “Lines of cocaine were be laid on tables and bathroom counters so people could use them”- she further revealed. But with time, she did recover and homes to never enter that dark spot again.
