A toddler from Indiana reportedly passed away from consuming opioid pills that were found inside a donated backpack.
According to reports from local media outlets, the 18-month-old child named Azana Trentman was rushed to a nearby hospital on September 4th after her parents called 911 to state their daughter was not responding after taking an unknown substance.
Azana’s parents rushed the child to a new thrift store in Dillsboro and that’s when their world turned upside down as published in a recent post that was highlighted on Facebook.
The toddler’s grandmother says the family is devastated and they don’t know how to return to normalcy after this.
They browsed all kinds of items and found little Azana playing with a backpack inside a store. They are not sure at what point the child found something inside and ingested it.
They revealed that they were not sure about what the item was or what dangerous substances it had inside. The family took immediate action and tried to empty her mouth and induce vomiting.
While they tasted the substance, nothing happened to them but they were sure it was sweet and had a melted candy consistency.
