Donald Trump has declared victory in the 2024 U.
S. presidential election, addressing a crowd of jubilant supporters in West Palm Beach, Florida, despite key states still counting votes.
“Look what happened—this is crazy!” Trump exclaimed, adding, “I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president.”
Trump vowed to continue fighting for Americans, saying, “I will fight for you and your family and your future. Every single day, I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body.”
He called his win a “magnificent victory for the American people,” claiming he had also secured the popular vote, which eluded him in both his 2016 and 2020 campaigns. “Winning the popular vote was very nice, it’s a great feeling of love,” he said.
The 78-year-old former president declared that his victory marked the beginning of “the golden age of America.”
Trump’s success in key battleground states such as Georgia, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina has significantly narrowed Kamala Harris’s path to victory. He is also leading in several other states, further cementing his lead. “We overcame obstacles that no one thought possible,” Trump said, with his family—including wife Melania and his children—standing by his side.
“We’re going to help our country heal,” he continued, stressing the need for national healing and emphasizing his ongoing commitment to tackling illegal immigration.
Trump also referenced a potential assassination attempt during a Pennsylvania rally in July, suggesting, “Many people have told me that God spared my life for a reason. That reason was to save our country and restore America to greatness.” He pledged that this mission would be fulfilled.
Harris, who had been scheduled to speak at Howard University after polls closed, did not address her supporters until later on Wednesday as the election results continued to unfold. The mood in her campaign shifted as the final counts began to show Trump leading in several crucial states.
