The third floor of an apartment complex in Des Moines, Iowa caught fire in the middle of the night.
One mother and her children got stuck in the burning building and brave Des Moines police officers rescued them.
Osheana Harrison, the mother, was screaming from her window when Des Moines police officers reached the apartment.
Their body cameras captured the dramatic rescue.
“Get them by the window. Send them down. Drop him. Drop him. Keep going. Stay right here. I got them. Go. Go” one officer can be heard saying in the body camera video.
“We got to get a ladder, quick. Someone dropped. We got the kids. Hurry.”
“We got you. We got you. Are you scared, babies? It’s OK. They’re getting your mom out right now.”
“Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart because I don’t know what I would do without my babies,” Harrison said.
“Before we had arrived, there were people in one of the apartments tossing down their kids. Police department caught three of them and then when fire crews arrived, they pulled one or two more out” Des Moines Fire Department’s Lieutenant Rick Thomas told WHO-DT.
Harrison told KCRG:
“My aunt says I have an angel watching over me. I don’t know what woke me up, but thank God I did.”
