A 32-year-old woman was recently struck and killed on the Long Island Expressway in Queens after reportedly jumping out of her moving Uber vehicle.
According to reports from the police, the woman fell from the vehicle’s back seat which was identified as a gray colored Volkswagen Passat at about 1:30 am near the Kissena Boulevard exit in the Flushing.
After the dangerous fall, she was rammed into by another driver who was also traveling eastbound and they struck her leg, the cops have confirmed.
She was soon pronounced dead at the scene of the crime.
The 44-year-old Uber driver who stayed at the scene was not injured as reported by the cops. All four of them were on eastbound lanes of the expressway and that’s why this was immediately shut down upon orders of the local police authorities.
Sources have confirmed that the NYPD highway patrol is currently investigating this gruesome incident. They want to figure out why the passenger chose to leap out of the moving vehicle in the first place.
This will help in ruling out if something criminal was taking place and therefore she may have jumped to save her life but unfortunately, it cost her life in the end.
Police have confirmed that the driver hit the woman unknowingly yet they are still in search of the person in charge of the hit-and-run.
