South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeoh has declared an emergency martial law, adding how the measure was needed to keep the nation protected from communist forces.
This includes enemies he called were coming from North Korea and anti-state actions inside his own country.
‘I declare martial law to protect the free Republic of Korea from great threats of communists in North Korea so that all despicable individuals can be removed. They are putting the country’s freedom and happiness at threat. It is also impacting our free constitutional order’- he added during his TV address today.
He further added how the country’s opposition is trying hard to control the parliament and hamstring the government via anti-state activities before asking his citizens to please believe in him.
He also hoped that they could tolerate some inconveniences. He mentioned that there are no regrets for the livelihoods of people.
Now, the capital city is seeing giant tanks rolling through the city while panic and fear grip the country. Many forces were seen storming the parliament after loud slogans were heard from a distance.
Hundreds of protesters took to the streets in Seoul where they met riot cops and armed cops were seen protecting the perimeter as the National Assembly was sealed.
