In April 2017, a rescuer couldn’t stop crying after she witnessed “the worst case” of animal abuse.
Rescuer Shelley Ridgan wrote on the Ravenswood Pet Rescue Facebook page:
“Meet Wanda. Well, what can I say, The worst case I have ever collected ( A stray ) Thrown over a ladies fence late last night.”
“This girl has sarcoptic mange, Ulcers in her eyes, Entropia in both eyes, Hematoma’s in both ears. Bloods have been taken to see if anything else is going on.”
“I cried all the way to the vets. She is staying in the vets, in ISO while we wait for blood results and she starts her treatment for her skin first, then we can look at the operations needed. We are going to raise funds to try and get this girl better” she wrote.
After her story went viral, people donated for Wanda. Wanda medicated for four weeks and started showing signs of recovery.
Later, Ridgan updated: “Wanda this morning, as you can see she is already feeling better, her little tail is wagging and for possibly the first time in her short life she is feeling loved.”
“We thought that she wasn’t going to make it.”
Wanda took three months to recover. Now, she is living with a foster family who is in love with her.
Her owners run a Facebook page for Wanda. Recently, the owners wrote on Wanda’s Facebook page:
“It’s been two years since that fateful day when some one threw me over a fence to get rid of me. Fortunately I was found in time. I couldn’t have lasted much longer.”
“It was touch and go. Then off to a foster home where I was treated twice a day with medication for four months. I love this family so much and they love me so this is where I stay forever.”
We are so happy for Wanda. Finally, she found a loving family who treats her the way she deserves to be treated.
