A high school girl has been slammed by the public after sharing a picture in which she’s holding a gun and a sign that read: “We hang ni**ers for free.
”
Despite sharing the wicked photo with her friends on Snapchat, the girl won’t face any charges as she is “protected by her right to freedom of speech.”
Following the racist image going viral, the police confirmed they aren’t investigating the incident or the South Carolina school girl.
While the unidentified Hillcrest High School pupil won’t face any charges, she could face expulsion. According to Greenville County Schools’ spokesperson, however, “the expulsion hearing has not yet taken place.”
According to Daily Mail, the school district’s spokesman revealed:
“The student was told to stay at home during the investigation for her safety and for the safety of the students at school.
“Extra officers and district personnel went to the school to assist administrators. Students who were upset by the post were directed to school counselors.”
Despite the school’s actions, Simpsonville police claimed the girl wouldn’t face any charges because there weren’t any “credible threats to any students or staff at Hillcrest High School.”
“That determination was not based on the inappropriateness of the photo, and the determination is in no way an indication the Simpsonville Police are excusing the photo,” the police spokesman said.
“Rather, the determination was based on evidence compiled in the investigation, including understanding the intent of the student; the role of Simpsonville Police is determine if a criminal act has been committed.”
As the authorities added, the photo “fell under the First Amendment right to freedom of speech,” meaning that she had the right to share it even though “the photo and content of the photo are inexcusable.”
“As with any situation the Simpsonville Police Department encounters, the safety and well-being of all students and staff are of utmost importance,” the police added after outraged parents expressed their concerns.
“Extra personnel were placed at the school after officials were made aware of the post to provide added protection. We are currently working with the Greenville County School District to resolve any safety concerns related to this incident.”
