On Monday, a lawsuit against Ariana Grande was filed by a paparazzi photographer, alleging the singer posted photos he took of her to her Instagram account and violated copyright law.

Last year when Ariana exited a building carrying a bag that read “Sweetener,” Robert Barbera, a New York-based photographer, photographed her.

Ariana shared two of the photos then on her official Instagram account, the day she released her album Sweetener. “Happy sweetener day,” she wrote in the caption.

The picture received more than 3,390,000 likes and as an evident, the screenshot of the post was also filed in court.

“[Grande] infringed [Barbera’s] copyright in the Photographs by reproducing and publicly displaying the Photographs on the Instagram Page,” he wrote in his lawsuit. “[Grande] is not, and has never been, licensed or otherwise authorized to reproduce, publicly display, distribute and/or use the Photographs.”

The photographer Robert is suing for either the profits Ariana earned from the photos or $25,000 for each pic.

But Ariana is not the first celebrity who faced the legal issue for posting a paparazzi photo. As in December BuzzFeed News reported that photo agencies taking action against stars who post their pictures on social media without giving credits to them.

In January, Supermodel Gigi Hadid was sued by a photo agency for posting a pic taken by the photographer.

Kim Kardashian West, Jennifer Lopez, 50 Cent, and Jessica Simpson have also faced the same legal issue.

As we all know Paparazzi sell their photos to the highest bidder and earn profit out of it. They either work independently or have their own agencies. If a celebrity or any person post pictures clicked by them without giving credit then it might get them into trouble.
