A video of a deployed Utah National Guard member reuniting with his 10-year-old brother who prayed for him for 11 months is winning the Internet.
Burgundy Blomquist’s older son Army Sgt. Smokey Osborn was deployed to the Middle East for 11 months as part of the Utah National Guard’s 211th Aviation Group.
His little brother, Raider was left heartbroken when his older brother went away from him for 11 months.
“He was gone for 11 months. We had no idea the deployment was going to be so hard on Raider.” Blomquist told Liftable.
“He was one sad little boy when [Smokey] left and, seriously, was so worried and prayed so hard the entire time.”
His little brother prayed two or three times a day for his brother’s safety for almost a year.
When Osborn came back after 11 months, he decided to surprise his younger brother, Raider.
Osborn showed up at Belknap Elementary School when Raider was in the middle of one of his classes.
The video of their heartwarming reunion was shared online by Blomquist.
“Where’s he at?” Osborn can be heard saying in the video.
Then he goes to his brother who was in the middle of one of his classes.
Raider couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw his brother after 11 months.
He jumped from his seat and hugged his brother.
Blomquist told Liftable: “Raider has been obsessed with the Army since Smokey got back from basic training.”
“He loves the Army and his big brother. Having him deployed was one of the hardest things we have all done.”
