Donald Cheetham who was seventy-seven years of age, resident of Pershore Worcestershire and a retired managing director in an engineering firm, was diagnosed with cancer.
The type of cancer was malignant melanoma. His cancer had spread to his liver, spleen, skin, brain, lungs, and lymph nodes and even to various other organs of his body. It was malignant cancer which holds a tendency to spread in the whole body.
Cheetham was diagnosed with a tumor which was equivalent to the size of a tennis ball in his lungs and after the tumor reached his brain he thought that he cannot live anymore.
Prior to diagnosis, Cheetham thought that he had a urine infection but his GP told him that it was malignant cancer, CT scan reports further confirmed the case and it was found that cancer has reached to other parts of the body as well.
Mr.
Cheetham, who has two children and is a grandfather of three, was informed by the doctors that his cancer is nearly incurable with chemotherapy.
As cancer had taken control over most of his body so he was advised to take immunotherapy drug. This is a type of therapy in which immune cells are arranged again so that they can combat the cancerous cells.
The drug which was given to Cheetham was named Pembrolizumab and he has inoculated this drug at Worcestershire Royal Hospital without admitting him. Pembrolizumab has the ability to compress the tumor. Cheetham’s family noticed an improvement in him although he initially suffered aftermaths of immunotherapy.
Daughter of Mr.
Cheetham, Angie confirmed that his health began to improve day by day and it was difficult to believe. His doctors stopped the process of radiotherapy in order to check the results of immunotherapy.
It was told to Cheetham that this drug could only extend his life to a couple of months but after completing his treatment Cheetham was found with no signs no cancer and doctors call it stupendous as he is treated without admitting him in the hospital even for a single night.According to a nurse at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, they treat hundreds of patients of cancer each year with this drug and this does not suit everyone however Mr. Cheetham resorted in a positive manner.
